THE 5 BEST CONCERTINA TUNES FOR BEGINNERS
Before you start learning tunes, check out these blogs here on the website:
Once we’ve covered the basics, such as posture, how to hold the concertina, the scales and the names of the basic notes, we would start learning simple tunes; some songs, nursery rhymes and polkas.
Here are the first 5 tunes I would teach an absolute beginner on the concertina:
1. Mary Had a Little Lamb............Song/Nursery Rhyme
2. Oh Row the Rathlin Bog............Song
3. Óró Sé do Bheatha Bhaile..........Song
I teach these above tunes at first as they use a lot of the same buttons, and therefore establish a familiarity and comfort with a select number of buttons.
We’d then move on to other tunes, introducing different buttons, one or two at a time, such as:
4. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star..........Song/Nursery Rhyme
5. The Keel Row..........Barndance
and so on…
