THE 5 BEST CONCERTINA TUNES FOR BEGINNERS

Once we’ve covered the basics, such as posture, how to hold the concertina, the scales and the names of the basic notes, we would start learning simple tunes; some songs, nursery rhymes and polkas.

 

Here are the first 5 tunes I would teach an absolute beginner on the concertina:

 

1. Mary Had a Little Lamb............Song/Nursery Rhyme

2. Oh Row the Rathlin Bog............Song

3. Óró Sé do Bheatha Bhaile..........Song

 

 

I teach these above tunes at first as they use a lot of the same buttons, and therefore establish a familiarity and comfort with a select number of buttons.

 

We’d then move on to other tunes, introducing different buttons, one or two at a time, such as:

 

4. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star..........Song/Nursery Rhyme

5. The Keel Row..........Barndance

and so on…
